Suicide Awareness: An Intimate Conversation with Call Your Sister Podcast
TW: Suicide
Last week I had the opportunity to have an intimate conversation on my experience with Suicide with Astrid and Alex of Call My Sister Podcast. This episode may be triggering to some so I encourage you to take the time for yourself during and after listening.
As the 10th leading cause of death in the United States and the second leading cause of death (after accidents) for people aged 10 to 34, suicide is a serious public health problem.
In 2016 in the United States, nearly 45,000 people died by suicide and the rate of suicide has increased every year since 2006. An estimated 1.3 million adults attempt suicide each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). More than one in five people who died by suicide had expressed their suicide intent. https://www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/suicide-prevention
